Last Chance To Funkify Your Christmas!

Monday, December 17th, 2007

This is your last call, people!

Tomorrow is the last ordering date for Christmas!

As a special treat, seeing as it’s Christmas, there’s 10% off this week at Miso Funky - just quote hamishhooves at the checkout and 10% will be automagically deducted from your bill.

This offer will remain open right up til Christmas, but remember the last date which you can order and get your stuff in time for the baby Jesus’s birthday in the UK is 18th December

If you’re outside the UK, then please feel free to order, but you probably won’t get your stuff til after Crimbo!

There’s still time to pick up a funky, handmade delight for your loved one (or yourself!) – maybe a fabulous vintage tea set, a little heart brooch or reject keyring (ideal stocking fillers!) or splash out and treat someone to a new monkey friend!

If you’re feeling smug and have all your gifts bought but they are lacking a certain je ne sais quoi, then we also have a few crimbo gnome gift tags left to jazz them up!

Get shopping!  Because after tomorrow, it will be too late!

* This date is arrived at using the Royal Mail’s guidelines, but you know what they’re like!  We can’t guarantee delivery before Christmas if they mess it up, but rest assured we’ll do everything possible to get it to you if you order before 18th - so order ASAP!

Welcome to the miso funky news-spreader Summer edition!

its aim: to provide you with all our news, crafty updates and the world according to Hamish!Hamish says … it’s my birthday!

Summer is well and truly upon us – sunshine, rain, sleet and all! Hamish and co hope that you have been making the most of it as… we all know… it will be over as quick as you say, I want a charcoal-y flavoured sausage!

So what better time to be out and about making the most of the ever-so-slowly-becoming-darker evenings than to craft, think about craft or buy craft!

what are you all about???

In case you missed us – how that is possible I don’t know – we are some dedicated gals who love to make things. Everything we make is completely original and has been made with love! We also organise and attend funky craft fairs for fellow funky crafters in and around Glasgow!

Visit the site to find out more about us, the markets and our craft obsessions!

any news???

It’s that time of year where we say HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the one we call Hamish. He and Miso Funky are 1 year old today (10th August)!Follow us, if you will, into the past… Claire and Jo sat at their work desks staring at the accumulating tickets on the helpdesk wondering when their collective craft ticket would be answered. All of a sudden… it was!

Our craft obsessions were christened MISO FUNKY on that rainy day in August and we thank everyone from our mothers, our other halves and pretty much everyone else on earth for making it one big funky reality!

In celebration… Hamish is having a clear out! Check out our Birthday SALE! More items to be added soon but ch-ch-ch-check it out for some summer bargains… push that funky boat OUT my friends.

In other news… our markets have been plodding along nicely! We have suffered a low crowd on account of all the summer festivities and no students kicking around with their loans. Thus, we’re really excited about the students coming back!!

Pop along to the next Miso Funky Market on September 9th at Hillhead Library, Byres Road, Glasgow!

The doors will be open from 10am til 4pm and you can peruse our fabulous marketeer stalls as well as Miso Funky! Come and get something funky and fabulous!

It’s free to get in, so no excuses not to come along and have a browse (and a buy)!

Get to know some of our regular marketeers and some of our new additions… they won’t bite…

Hannah Zakari – Quirky handmade jewellery and bags inspired by Japan

So Cherry – Knitted mp3 player covers and other knitting accessories!

Stella My Star – Vintage handmade jewellery from our in-house Geordie friend

Susan Kennedy – Portraiture, seascapes, sky scapes from our resident Glasgow School of Art student!

Potiri Designs – Fab contemporary stained and kiln-fired glass

Lady Wurlitzer – Gorgeous handmade lip balms, soaps and cosmetics

And so many more… to see more of this market’s exhibitors,

If you or someone you know has a burning ambition to be an exhibitor at one of our markets, then drop us a line! We are also taking names for our Christmas Markets which will start around the end of November and into December – as depressing as it is to be talking about Christmas in August, we promise not to say the word again :)

Hamish and co will have a stall at some other fairs in the next coming months so we’ll keep you updated on the news page of our movements!

anything new???

We have been beavering away on our Autumn/Winter collection and so will be introducing some funky necklaces, bracelets, hairbands, bags, baby and knitteds to name a few, over the next month or so. Keep watch on the shop to see what’s what in the world of Miso Funky!

the final thought from hamish

Hamish promises he won’t eat too much fruit on his birthday night out and offers this advice for you to pass on to your fruit eating friends…

“When you eat too much, your hearing becomes less sharp!”

And he would know! Use it wisely my friends…

Until next time, go forth and funkify your life!

Welcome to the miso funky news-spreader Spring e…

Monday, April 10th, 2006

Welcome to the miso funky news-spreader Spring edition!its aim: to provide you with all our news, new crafty ideas and the world according to Hamish!

Hamish says … Come to the fair!

Spring has just about sprung, the daffodils are out and the bunnies are gambolling! (that’s hopping around, rather than playing blackjack!)So what better time to be out and about perusing the latest in funky contemporary crafts than spring? Read on, my friends, for news of how you can be joining us at the hottest event this Spring!

what are you all about ???

In case you missed us last time we are some dedicated gals who love to make things. Everything we make is completely original and has been made with love!

Visit the site to find out more about us and our craft obsessions!any news ???

You may remember last time that we tantalised you with the news of our intended market in the West end of Glasgow … well, dream no more, comrades! The time has come for your craft fair vision to be realised!

Pop along to the first Miso Funky Market on April 22nd at Hillhead Library, Byres Road, Glasgow!

The doors will be open from 11am til 4pm and there is also a record fair on in the other hall at the library, so bring your spouses, friends, family, neighbours and hell, even bring your enemies!

It’s free to get in, so no excuses not to come along and have a browse! There’s also an orchid fair on at the Botanic Gardens on the day, so come along and make an outing of it!

There are plans afoot to make the market a regular event, so if you or someone you know has a burning ambition to be an exhibitor at one of our markets, then drop us a line! To see some of this fair’s exhibitors, click here!

The website has also had an overhaul, with a lot of new photos uploaded. The Happy People page continues to grow as more and more delighted customers get in touch. But now we need your help to carry on the site’s expansion! We have opened the Miso Funky Forum, for you to get talking amongst yourselves! Log on here and see what all the chattering’s about!anything new ???

We have just taken delivery of a brand new batch of handmade jewels from Thailand! There are some very unusual beaded items in the box of Eastern Delights, and we are sure you will be very excited to see them! (Remember that all of our suppliers in the Far East are paid a fair price for their wares – no sweatshops involved!)

They will make their first outing at the Miso Funky Market, and if there are any left afterwards, you will be able to view them on the site! Come along to the Market to avoid disappointment!

Disco ties continue to be as popular as ever and we will have a wide selection on offer at the Market! Other new items include button brooches, knitted wraps (the in thing for spring evenings out!) and our vintage belt and head band range!

Also making her debut appearance at Miso Funky Towers is Iona the bunny. Iona has arrived just in time to be the face of spring! She brings with her news of a couple of new ventures that may take your fancy!

miso weddings

Yes, we’re branching out! Not content with supplying the funkiest wedding stationery at the wedding of the decade recently, we are now extending this service to all! More information will appear soon on the site, in time for wedding season! Who says weddings have to be traditional?!

miso kids

Why should adults have all the funky fun?! We’ll be testing the waters with a few funky baby items soon – come along to the Miso Funky Market for a sneak preview!

the final thought of hamish

Hamish’s final thought this time is, as you may have guessed, all about the Market! Hamish reminds you that his human friends have put a lot of hours in organising this opportunity especially for you! So don’t waste it – get along to Hillhead Library on 22nd April and bring your spends! Remember it’s free to get in!

Hamish isn’t cruel though! His random fact this time, passed on from an alpaca in San Diego Zoo is…

“When faced with danger, the octopus can wrap six of its legs around its head to disguise itself as a fallen coconut shell and escape by walking backwards on the other two legs.”

Quite how an alpaca managed to make such an observation remains a mystery, but use this information wisely my friends!

Until next time, go forth and funkify your life!
