Through The Red Window

July 21st, 2010

Remember a while back when I was flapping my gums about Red Door Gallery and how excited I was to have stuff stocked in there?

Imagine my delight then when they asked me to put together some things for a window display! I’ve not been over to Edinburgh to see it in the flesh yet, but the lovely Nicky sent this photo of the set-up which looks ace!

You’ve still got about a week to see it for yourself in the flesh. Red Door has such an awesome array of stuff on offer, so be sure to check it all out!

Look at this cosy wee space. It’s Cherry Cherry

A lovely little shop based in the lanes area of Norwich, selling all things handmade and crafty. Cherry Cherry began in 2009 and is run by freelance illustrator Kate Seaward. Cherry Cherry provides a wonderful platform for designers, artists, illustrators and crafters to sell their work in a creative, inspiring space.

Miso Funky is delighted to be the newest addition to the line-up of designers and we’re in great company – Gemma Correll, Lizz Lunney and Custom Made are all firm favourites of ours.

Our What Would Delia Do? items are off there to Delia’s home town of Norwich, hopefully she’ll pop in and see them one day!

If you’re in Norwich, stop by the shop and say hi – it’s on Lower Goat Lane.

TV Times

February 12th, 2010

Exciting times at Miso Funky! Thanks to the wonderful Mhairi at Mucky Puddle, our samplers are going to be part of the new series of the TV show Mary Queen Of Shops.

In the show, Mary Portas shares the knowledge she has gained from her years at the leading edge of fashion retailing, giving the ultimate insider’s guide as to how to get the most out of shops and shopping.

The shop that our samplers are now stocked in is the lovely 37 Old London Road. Be sure to check the site out as they launch their new look. There’s some pretty things in stock, including our samplers and Laura Donald’s Eastenders embroidery.

Hopefully you’ll be able to catch a glimpse of our handiwork on TV soon – be sure that we’ll let you know when it’s on!

And watch out for our very talented Emily Peacock featuring rather more prominently in the new series of Kirstie’s Homemade Home later in the year too. It’s all go round here!

New Stockists

November 5th, 2009

I return from the hospital, minus a gall bladder but with lots of great new stuff happening! It’s very hard to keep track but let’s start with the new stockists!

First up, you can now find us at Cut Out & Mouldy Loaf in the Custard Factory, Birmingham. I love custard more than most things in life, so this has thrilled me rather a lot!

And secondly, and more locally, a selection of emobroidery and mugs is now available from the brand spanking new Made In The Shade Maisonette.

Situated in the newly revamped De Courcey’s Arcade on Cresswell Lane just off Byres Road, it’s a great addition to the trendy West End and I’m joined by so many talented designers in being stocked there. Let the good times roll!

I’ve got lots of new products and things to restock coming soon, but as I’m still very much in the recovery phase, it will be slow going! I am still not able to get off the sofa without help, so bear with me!

Miso Funky will be taking part in design and vintage style extravaganza, Made In The Shade, on Saturday 26th September.

Over 40 fabulous designers, makers and vintage sellers will set up shop in Gallery 4 and Gallery 5 of The Lighthouse, Scotland’s beleaguered Centre for Architecture & Design on Saturday 26th September between 10.30am and 5pm.

There has been much speculation about the future of the Lighthouse in the press recently, but the centre’s administrators have assured Made In The Shade that the show will go on – see you there!

My Deco

April 20th, 2009

There’s a new kid on the interiors shopping block and it’s gonna be HUGE! Devised by entrepreneur Martha Lane Fox, the brains behind Last Minute.com it can only be bound for greatness.

It’s called My Deco and of course Miso Funky has an outlet there now!  It’s a little strange to rubbing shoulders with Millets and Monsoon all on the same page, but also a little bit exciting to be part of something so well put together and professional.

You can even design your own room there to see how that emobroidery is going to look next to your Conran Shop sofa! Go try it out now!

Red Door Gallery

March 17th, 2009

We’re really excited to be expanding into selling our emobroidery in lots of new places, including bricks and mortar shops.

This week, we have two new stockists – one in Glasgow and one in our fair capital, Edinburgh.

In Glasgow, you can find a small collection of emobroideries at Sith Cafe, just along the road from Miso Towers in Partick.

In Edinburgh, you can now purchase emobroidery at the fabulous Red Door Gallery on Victoria Street, just off the Grassmarket.

Very exciting news and of course it means it’s very busy! Stay tuned for news of more new stockists very soon!
